DAY 4 IVF

We are on day four of the IVF.  We receive a call every morning about 9:30 regarding the maturation of the embyos.  As of Sunday morning,  out of the 8 that survived the transfer we had five that fertilized.  The embryologist said we had one greater than above average,  three above average and one average.  More than likely the two best embryos will be transferred on Tuesday. We are so excited we can't stand it.  Kasey gets so nervous every morning before the embryologist calls.

Blasotocyst Development
This is an illustration of whats going on in the fertility lab this very moment.
Our embryos are in the D Morula stage.  The inner cell mass in the last diagram is what will develop into a fetus and this is the stage they are in when transferred.

I just received a call from Kasey and the embryologist stated that we now have 4 far above average and 1 average.  The transfer procedure will be done on Tuesday at 1:30,  so please keep Kasey in your prayers especially tomorrow at that time.

KASEY'S IN VITRO RETRIEVAL

Kasey had the retrieval of her eggs done yesterday.  The procedure went very well.  They put her to sleep and extracted 9 eggs.  One of them didn't make the transport.  The embryologist called this morning and told us that 6 of the eggs fertilized.  So,  now we wait for 4 or 5 more days and hope that two of the six make it.  They will put two embryos in on either,  Tuesday or Wednesday.  Kasey has been a real trooper through this whole experience.  I gave her 3 shots in her stomach nightly for 2 weeks.  She is going to be a wonderful mother.  We are so excited and can't hardly wait to start this whole new journey.  We just thought the shots were done.  We found out, after she gets pregnant that,  she will have to have a shot of progesterone in her bum every night for 12 weeks,  that's 84 shots.  She is one tough cookie though!!!!
